I also went to Joshua Tree again and I took my watercolor sketchbook with me. It was quite hard to paint there. When I was out in the sun it was burning hot, but if I stayed in the shade it was freezing cold. Luckily my friends and I climbed up to the top in the late afternoon and we found several puddles of water on top of huge boulders so we each sat next to one and use it as our water source for our watercolor(I hope no animal die from drinking it )
I still haven't figure out a palette of a sort, so it would be nice if someone can give me a few pointers. :0)
I started this piece a while back and finally have time to work on it again. I've been working on books and other graphic design stuff. I miss painting a lot actually so I'm working on this piece right now. This was taken with my phone camera so it's quite crappy, which reminds me I need to get a new camera.
This piece is for the upcoming group show "Phantom Menagerie" on November 8. I had so much fun making it. It actually got me out of my stump, looking at it make me smile every time. I got the idea while reading about corn and oil prices online. There are some
other piece I'm still working on I haven't decide whether to put it
I filled in the bottom, this is how it looked three weeks ago. I'm planning on finishing it this week, and starting the smaller painting. I haven't worked on it for a bit, been doing my web which is 95% finished(just needs the about page, but it is on the web already, http://www.mimichuong.com ).
